We’re ALL owners

In order to win personally, professionally, and as a team, we each must maintain ownership of our time.

It’s easy to slip into the habit of saying yes to every request that comes along, whether it’s tangible (a request from a client or team member) or intangible (spending too much time on an email or train of thought).

But when I’m not intentional with my actions, I’m choosing to give up ownership of my time and my core responsibilities and priorities get pushed aside, resulting in diminished results.

This affects my personal performance as well as the potential of my team and company as a whole.

One of my favorite quotes is:

Saying yes to one thing is saying no to something else.

Being aware of what I’m saying no to when I say yes helps me make conscious choices so I can make sure I’m saying yes to the right things.

I've challenged myself to recognize when I’ve said yes when I should have said no, and take steps to fix it.

Only you can own your time and results.

If you’ve noticed that your productivity is affected by your involvement with something unrelated to your core job responsibilities or personal priorities, OWN it!

Speak up — be transparent and vulnerable — and make sure you are doing the most that you can to protect your results, performance, and success.
